Community Guidelines
Last Updated: 22 June 2026
Recap exists to help people capture, relive, and share their best sporting moments. These Community Guidelines set out what we expect from everyone who uses the Service. They apply to all content uploaded, shared, or created through Recap, including videos, highlights, comments, team names, profile information, and any AI-generated output derived from your footage.
Our Principles
Everything here comes back to four ideas: respect the people in and around the game, protect young people, keep content honest, and use the platform in good faith.
1. Respect
1.1 No Harassment, Bullying, or Abuse
Do not use Recap to target, intimidate, or demean anyone, whether they are a player, coach, official, parent, spectator, or another user. This includes content that:
- Personally attacks, mocks, or ridicules an identifiable individual
- Encourages others to harass or pile on someone
- Repeatedly contacts or tags someone after being asked to stop
- Shares content specifically to humiliate or shame someone
Competitive banter and honest discussion of on-pitch performance are welcome. Targeted personal abuse is not.
1.2 No Hate Speech or Discrimination
Content that promotes hatred, violence, or discrimination based on race, ethnicity, nationality, religion, gender, gender identity, sexual orientation, disability, or age is prohibited. This includes slurs, stereotypes presented as fact, and coded language intended to dehumanise.
We apply a zero-tolerance approach to discriminatory abuse directed at players, officials, or other users. In serious cases, we may report conduct to relevant authorities or sporting bodies.
1.3 Respect Officials and the Game
Match officials are part of the game. Content that exists solely to abuse, threaten, or intimidate referees, umpires, or other officials is not permitted. Disagreeing with a decision is fine. Sustained personal attacks are not.
2. Protecting Young People
2.1 Content Featuring Minors
Do not upload content that:
- Identifies a minor's full name, school, home address, or other personal details in titles, descriptions, or overlays (first names or team names are acceptable)
- Places a minor in an embarrassing, humiliating, or distressing context
- Could reasonably be used to contact, locate, or identify a minor outside the context of their sporting activity
2.2 Strictly Prohibited Content Involving Minors
Any content that sexualises, exploits, or endangers a child in any way will be immediately removed. We will report such content to the relevant authorities, including the National Crime Agency (NCA) and local law enforcement, and permanently ban the account.
2.3 Safeguarding in Team Settings
Where Recap is used by clubs, teams, or coaches in connection with young players, all communications should be transparent and appropriate. We encourage group-based communication and recommend that a parent, guardian, or second adult has visibility of any interactions involving minors.
3. Honest Content
3.1 No Misrepresentation of AI Content
Recap uses AI to generate commentary, graphics, effects, and highlight selections. Do not present AI-generated content as authentic, unedited footage where doing so could mislead. For example, do not use Recap's AI commentary to fabricate statements attributed to real public figures, or present AI-edited sequences as unaltered evidence of events that did not occur.
3.2 No False Claims About Matches or Players
Do not use Recap to spread false claims about match results, scores, player conduct, match fixing, doping, or other integrity matters. Genuine analysis and debate are encouraged, but fabricated allegations can cause real harm to individuals and the integrity of the sport.
3.3 Accurate Team and Event Information
When creating events, provide accurate team names, scores, and event details. Do not impersonate other teams, clubs, or organisations.
4. Privacy and Consent
4.1 Filming and Sharing Responsibly
You are responsible for ensuring you have the right to record and share the footage you upload. This means:
- Complying with any filming rules set by the venue, league, or event organiser
- Obtaining consent from identifiable individuals, particularly where footage is shared publicly
- Not recording in spaces where filming is prohibited or where individuals have a reasonable expectation of privacy (such as changing rooms or medical areas)
4.2 No Doxxing or Unauthorised Personal Information
Do not share another person's private information without their consent. This includes home addresses, phone numbers, email addresses, workplace details, school names, and financial information.
4.3 Opponent Footage
Sharing footage of your own matches is central to Recap. However, do not use the platform to systematically record and distribute footage of opponents' training sessions, tactics, or private team activities without their knowledge and consent.
5. Safety and Legality
5.1 No Dangerous or Violent Content
Do not upload content that glorifies, encourages, or instructs dangerous behaviour, whether on or off the pitch. This includes celebrating reckless challenges, violent conduct, or deliberate attempts to injure.
5.2 No Illegal Content
Content that depicts, promotes, or facilitates illegal activity is prohibited. This includes content related to illegal gambling, substance abuse, weapons, or any activity that violates applicable law.
5.3 No Threats
Threats of violence, whether directed at individuals or groups, are strictly prohibited regardless of whether they are intended seriously.
6. Platform Integrity
6.1 No Spam or Commercial Misuse
Do not use Recap to distribute unsolicited advertising, promotional material, or repetitive content. Do not create fake accounts, manipulate engagement metrics, or impersonate other users or organisations.
6.2 No Interference with the Service
Do not attempt to reverse-engineer, hack, overload, or otherwise interfere with the operation of the Service. Do not exploit bugs or vulnerabilities. If you discover a security issue, please report it to security@recap.mobi.
6.3 Accurate Reporting
Do not misuse the reporting system to target users whose content you simply disagree with. False or malicious reports undermine the system for everyone.
7. Enforcement
We take a graduated approach to enforcement. The specific action depends on the severity of the violation, the context, and whether it is a first or repeated offence.
7.1 Actions We May Take
- Content removal: We may remove content that violates these Guidelines.
- Warning: For first-time or lower-severity violations, we may issue a formal warning explaining which Guideline was breached and what is expected going forward.
- Feature restriction: We may temporarily restrict specific features such as uploading, sharing, or commenting.
- Account suspension: For serious or repeated violations, we may temporarily suspend your account.
- Permanent ban: For the most serious violations, or for users who repeatedly breach these Guidelines after warnings, we may permanently terminate your account.
- Referral to authorities: Where content involves potential criminal conduct (including child exploitation, threats of violence, or hate crimes), we may refer the matter to law enforcement.
7.2 Appeals
If you believe an enforcement action was made in error, you may appeal by contacting legal@recap.mobi within 30 days of the action. We will review your appeal and respond within 14 days. Appeals are reviewed by a person, not an automated system.
7.3 Context Matters
We consider context when reviewing reported content. Factors include the intent behind the content, the likelihood of harm, whether the person reporting has a pattern of false reports, and the cultural or sporting context of the content. We aim to be fair and proportionate in every case.
8. Your Role
A good community is built by its members. If you see content that violates these Guidelines, please report it through the in-app reporting feature or by contacting legal@recap.mobi. We review all reports and take action where appropriate.
9. Changes to These Guidelines
We may update these Guidelines from time to time. We will notify you of material changes via in-app notice or email. Continued use of the Service after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the updated Guidelines.
